CLerical Issue TErry here is why the Fords are slouches on coaches It is because of your media (not saying Mike and TErry ) brethren being their Girlies and worried that they might lose their advertising dollars and That is the TRUTH on why the fords never feel any heat to demand from their coaches unlike NY plus the fans come out regaurdless

TErry why not just host a tshirt design type contest and the winner get's some type of incentive so you won;t have to call and investigate and search but instead the pictures will come to you. I went to Sportsinferno.com and I like the look even though it is not complete yet.

Billionaire -

sportsinferno.com says 'due to the station change' they are down at the moment - what's that about?

Also, everyone - LB is going to sink with that dysfunctional, unmovable Knicks team. I may get the season package just to watch him implode.

That's what Philly fans thought when he took ahold of these misfits and cast offs that no one else wanted.

I might just get the package again this year to watch LB in action. The East is so weak it won't take much to get in the playoffs.

Anomnynous I Did not say it was up and running but if you look at the site it does look good. TRRW I don;t think the east is a weak as you may think. The East used to be the doormats for the west but things have changed. I still give the overall advantage to the west but not by much. Don;t doubt LB call it what you may but he took the Clippers to the playoffs enough said.

True Billionaire. If LB can take the Clippers to the playoffs, ANYTHING is possible!

I hate to say this, I am a 1270/sports inferno fan, BUT this might be pretty interesting:

"STONEY AND WOJO, DETROIT'S #1 AFTERNOON SHOW, IS SCHEDULED TO TALK TO LARRY BROWN IN THE 5PM HOUR TODAY. LARRY WILL FINALLY DISCUSS HIS EXIT FROM THE PISTONS AND HIS PROBABLE MOVE TO THE NY KNICKS. THIS WILL BE LARRY'S FIRST PUBLIC INTERVIEW SINCE HIS DEPARTURE FROM THE PISTONS.

FOR THE BEST COVERAGE OF THE DETROIT PISTONS, THERE'S ONLY ONE STATION IN TOWN...SPORTS RADIO 1130 WDFN THE FAN!"

AND, 1130 is also streaming online.

How deep can the Pistons organization stick their heads up their asses?

Did anyone see this article:

Pistons deny they tried to deal Darko Milicic to Hawks
BY KRISTA LATHAM
Knight Ridder Newspapers
http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/sports/12229896.htm

These quotes from this article are unbelievable.

John Hammond
"It's something that is almost ongoing," Hammond said of calls about Milicic. "Darko Milicic has a lot of value in this league, and there are a lot of teams that would love to acquire him through a trade. We get trade offers on Darko a lot, especially at times like the trade deadline and during the draft."

All I can say is my Bullsh#t detector is going off.

John Hammond also said:

"Joe hates to have an untouchable list," Hammond said. "But people kinda know that if you call for Chauncey Billups or Ben Wallace or any of those guys, people in the league know they're kind of untouchable.

"Over the course of the last few months, Darko has kind of somewhat been in that category."

These idiots are boneheads, Darko untouchable.

I took your suggestion and I am listening to Stoney and Wojo.

All I can say is damn this is bad radio. In fact, other than the Inferno, this town is filled with bad radio. I can't take this $+!&.

The top 3 worst has to be:

Greg and Michelle
Dominski and Doyle
Greg Brady or what ever that program is.

Stoney and Wojo are working their way on the list.

Thank god for the inferno!!!!

Clerical Issue MIke Valenti and all spartan grads your football team is irrelevant and the Wolverines are not great but good bordeline average. WHen was the last time Spartan football threatened or even sniffed a national championship. The Rosebowl does not constitute a national Championship. With that in mind when was the last time Wolverine sniffed it and I think that year was moreso the players than Lloyd Status Quo Carr.

Good call out TRRW on anomynous hahahahhah errr Stony. BOth stations are rejects except for Sports inferno.

don't worry, TRRW, I'm not stoney-

I WAS a 1130 listener, then i think over winter vacation (or last fall) I was sick of Jim Rome, and Came across the sports Inferno. Ever since then, I've pretty much listened to 1270 most of the time (but I do get VERY tired of tiger baseball all the time, so I listen to Parker & the Man/97.1FM at night). Plus 1270's stream online I think turns off at 7PM or something, so like tonight I won't be able to listen to Pat Cuputo. It sucks that 1270 is the one of the only stations I can't get through my regular radio.

Anyways, the point is I have been registered with 1130 online for a long time, and they send little e-mail tidbits- So I thought I would post it here, in case anyone is interested in a Larry Brown interview.

I don't like Stony and Wojo, but I want to hear what Larry Brown wants to say.

I listen to the big show most of the time, BUT this LB thing seems like it'll be interesting.

Blogger The_Real_Right_Way said...

I agree anonymous.

I am still intrigued by the LB fiasco. Media wants to move on and just call the guy a liar and take the Pistons word as gospel.

I wish someone would do their job and fish the real story out. That goes for Darko as well. Where the hell is the media. Why aren't they finding out why Darko is off limits?

DArko is most likely in Serbia/Yugoslavia (I don't remember where he is from) training for the National team, BUT that doesn't mean he doesn't have a phone-

I wanted his take on the LB situation, and his reaction to the trade rumors.

Maybe the Pistons don't want him to be interviewed because he would say "thank god"?

It was much better once they got into the LB interview.

After hearing both sides and looking at this thing logically, I think both side are obviously shaping their stories, but Larry Browns side seems to be more plausible.

Particularly when you look at the Pistons knee jerk reaction to what Glass came out and said.

Looks like Larry Brown is the next NY Knicks coach.

What a fiasco. I guess Isiah has magic healing powers.

Perhaps Bill Davidson should use some of his money and buy him some healing powers, and have them damn ears downsized while he's at it.

Blogger The_Real_Right_Way said...

In Larry Browns interview yesterday, he said one thing that really sticks out in my mind.

He said that he knew back in March something was getting ready to go down. He said that it doesn't take a rocket scientist to sense when a change is about to take place.

I think he is honest in that account. You don't move from a one day meeting to firing someone to hire his replacement in the next day or two without having already made up your mind.

I don't think LB started looking at options until this organization gave him signals that things were coming to an end.

Furthermore, I think the Darko situation had something to do with it.

Larry wouldn't sacrafice the success of the team by playing Darko to try and build some trade value. That would be the only way the Pistons would be able to save face on the bonehead move to draft Darko with the wealth of talent that was available.

Something was about to go down because they knew Larry was flirting with other teams. Brown is a scheming snake and I'm just glad he's gone.

I heard that interview yesterday as well. I don't understand how that show can be the most listened to afternoon show in Detroit. They can be good when they want to be, but yesterday was a 45 minute lovefest.

What a bunch of jocksniffers. They owed it to the people of Detroit to challenge the man, when he says he had every intention of coming back (despite what he said back in December), and only first considered the Knicks last Friday when the Pistons kicked him out the door. LB: Please don't insult the intelligence of Detroiters.

I thought the interview was equal to the lovefest and buttsucking that was done with Joe D and Bill Davidson.

To me, both sides are bending the truth, LB's story however is more plausible. They made a decision to fire him along time ago. If Larry Brown was not loyal and was blatantly shopping around, why didn't these idiots just fire him?

Why all the damage control to debate firing versus mutual agreement if he was that much of a scoundrel.

That doesn't make sense.

TRRW -

I agree, and you are helping me make my point. They kiss up to EVERYONE! At least with Pistons management, they have the (lame) excuse of having a business partnership.

I'm not siding with the pistons, believe me. What I am saying is, don't go advertise an exclusive interview if all you're going to do is act like Jay Leno or Regis and Kelly

I hear you...

With the exception of the Inferno, this town is filled with bad "local" talk, and sports radio.

Parker and the Man can be good from time to time.

Blogger SportPsych Detroit said...

Inferno -- agreed, though I find myself conflicted between them and Sean Baligian b/c of his passion for sports

Parker & the Man -- entertaining at least, but less of a pure sports talk show.

Then again, one of my pet peeves with sports talk radio in general is that there aren't any shows that focus on SPORTS

11:09 AM

Blogger Leelanau Sports Guy said...

I can't believe most of you think that all Detroit sports radio sucks except the Inferno...

I am outside of the listening area for Detroit sports talk radio, but everytime I am in Detroit, I don't have a very hard time finding something good to listen to on any of the stations.

Maybe it's because I don't listen to it every day or that I listen to ESPN radio most of the time, who knows.

On a side note, I haven't seen this much butt-kissing since, well, last week on this blog.

What listening area are you in. You probably have never heard the Midday Mayhem or Dominski and Doyle. Its not sports, but talk about bad radio. That is some of the worst radio I have ever heard and I have traveled the country extensively.

Thank god they blend in Jim Rome to get a national perspective. The Big Show is good as well, but outside of that it is the Sports Inferno.

1:54 PM

Blogger Leelanau Sports Guy said...

You're right I probably haven't. I am Up North in the Traverse City area, so I only have one sports talk radio station (1310) and it picks up ESPN radio during the day and 1270 Tiger broadcasts.

I don't pretend to know all about Detroit Sports Talk Radio, but just found it hard to believe everyone seems to think everything else is bad.

I listen to WDFN online every once in a while and it's entertaining.
